Now that you have gone apple picking and taken all the Instagram pics to prove it, what are you going to do with all of those apples? If you have been following along you know a few weeks ago my very talented sister in law, Tania, taught me how to make pie! So Kristin and I decided to take that knowledge, along with this delicious recipe we found in one of my cook books, and hit the kitchen!
The cook book had their own crust recipe, but we decided stick with the one I was taught. The odds were already against us seeing as our baking abilities are limited so we figured this was the best option.
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 1 tbsp cold water
- 3/4 cup Tenderflake
- mix salt and flour
- use pastry cutter to cut in Tenderflake until pearl size balls form
- in a separate bowl mix together cold water, egg and vinegar
- add mixed ingredients into flour mixture and combine with your hands and form a ball (do not over, you want the ingredients to be combined not mixed like cookie dough)
- wrap dough in saran wrap and chill in the fridge for 30 minutes
The rest was as easy as pie! 😉 You can find the directions to the inside of the pie in the photos below! 🙂 We used some William Sonoma dough cutters to add some designs and make it look extra fancy! It was delicious and relatively easy!
Let us know if you try it out and tag us in your pie baking pictures!
Sincerely your friends,
Katie & Kristin
